WordPress 101

This post is a beginners introduction to WordPress. WordPress is a widely used and supported blogging tool and content management system (CMS). Your WordPress site can be updated from your browseriPhone, iPad or Android device. In this post I have embedded some videos to get you started, you might not need to watch all of them as some may not apply to your particular setup.

The dashboard is referred to as the “back end,” of your site, and only you (and any users you’ve assigned) can see it. The “front end” is what the outside world sees when they visit yoursite.com. You can access both parts of your blog any time, to access the back end of your website visit yousite.com/wp-admin and login.

The Content : Posts and Pages

WordPress has 2 main content types, posts and pages. Post’s are like articles in a newspaper and just like a newspaper, you can put the articles into categories like sport, finance, world news, etc… Pages are a constant, e.g. Services, Contact Us, About Us.

Create a New Post

Your website may not have a news page or blog, if it doesn’t feel free to skip the next 3 videos. In this video we’ll take a look at how to add a new post and how to customize it. This video also explains the difference between Posts and Pages in depth. Enjoy.

Hyperactive Wins Race

Hyperactive Racing has taken 1st place in the annual Targa Wrest Point in Tasmania. After winning all but one stage on Saturday the team had a 1 min 14 secs lead by the end of the day. Sunday’s racing the team just had to maintain the lead and bring it home, which they did with 43secs clear of second place.
